CMS Student Assistance Team

Mission Statement

The mission of the CMS Student Assistance Team (SAT) is to assess referred students not already receiving assistance and to design and implement strategies to meet their social, emotional and intellectual needs toward achieving academic success.

What is a Student Assistance Team?

The Student Assistance Team is comprised of trained faculty members who meet a minimum of bi-weekly to support students who are failing academically.

Referral Requirements

• Student must be failing one or more subjects
• Student cannot be receiving any other services, such as 504 plans, I.E.P.s, or be a member of the S.A.I.L. program.

The Referral Process

• Any faculty member may complete a referral and place it in a team member’s mailbox.
• The SAT will meet and review the referral
• If the referral is accepted, a plan manager will contact the student’s parents and teachers to gather more information.
• The SAT will review the additional information gathered and will create an action plan.
• The plan manager monitors the action plan.
